2014 Counoise - wine club only

The Wine
{Pronounced Coon-whaz} Blackcurrant fruit, cherry and baking spice. Counoise is originally from the Southern Rhône valley and is typically blended in Châteaunuf-du-Pape. A delicious wine as a varietal as well offering nice fruit and a hint of pepper.

The Vineyards
85% Counoise – Meek Vineyard – Yakima Valley
10% Alicante Bouschet – Inland Dessert – Yakima Valley
8% Cinsault – Meek Vineyard – Yakima Valley

The Winemaking
Mostly whole berry fermentation in open top fermenters. Aged in neutral French oak puncheons (large format barrels). We blended a little Alicante Bouschet and Cinsault to give the Counoise enhanced mouthfeel and add some earthy spice.
